Solar Studio was created after years of seeing the same problem: poorly designed, underperforming solar systems that left homeowners unsupported and disappointed. As Master Electricians with 20+ years’ industry experience through Cableworks Electrical, we knew there had to be a better way. So we built Solar Studio — a solar company driven by electrical expertise, tailored design, quality workmanship, and long-term performance.

Solar Studio and Cableworks Electrical are led by Theo and Laura McDonnell — a partnership built on technical excellence, strategic vision, and a shared commitment to raising the standard of electrical and solar solutions.
Theo is a Master Electrician with over 20 years of industry experience. After completing his apprenticeship in New Zealand, he expanded his expertise working on large-scale commercial projects overseas before returning home to build something better. He founded Cableworks Electrical with a clear purpose: to deliver exceptional electrical work, precise craftsmanship, and tailored solutions backed by technical integrity. His extensive hands-on experience now underpins every Solar Studio system design, ensuring solar is engineered properly — not simply installed.
Laura brings a strong background in business strategy, operations, customer experience and growth planning. She drives the systems, quality standards and long-term vision behind the business, ensuring that every customer receives clarity, care, and a seamless experience from first contact to final handover. Her focus on process, communication and continuous improvement keeps Solar Studio delivering at the highest level.
Together, Theo and Laura combine technical mastery and strategic leadership to build a solar division defined by intelligence, transparency and superior outcomes.
